Global Education Pathways: Study Abroad, PhD Opportunities, and Future Careers

Explore universities worldwide with trusted advice on undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral opportunities – from admissions strategy to long-term career planning.

Higher education pathways are becoming increasingly global and complex. Students exploring undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral study often face difficult decisions about universities, programmes, funding, and long-term career opportunities, yet clear and independent guidance is not always easy to find. PhDtribe exists to provide student-centred, equity-focused support for individuals navigating study abroad opportunities, doctoral education pathways, career development, and lifelong learning in a rapidly changing global education landscape.

Our Philosophy

PhDtribe is built on a simple idea: education decisions should be informed, thoughtful, and aligned with long-term goals.

We believe students benefit most from guidance that is:

Independent
Advice should prioritise the student’s interests rather than institutional recruitment incentives.

Research-informed
Higher education pathways should be understood within the broader academic and professional landscape.

Future-oriented
Students should think beyond admission to universities and consider how their education shapes long-term careers.

At PhDtribe, we see study abroad and doctoral pathways not simply as admissions processes, but as important life decisions that shape students’ intellectual growth and professional futures.

Principal Adviser, PhDtribe

Meet our Founder

Kia ora and welcome to PhDtribe.

PhDtribe is deeply personal to me. My educational and professional journey has taken me across three continents, where I studied and worked with universities, student associations, and international students. During my time in higher education, I led several student programmes and initiatives designed to support student engagement, representation, and academic success. Working within the university environment also gave me valuable insight into how institutions function and how students navigate complex academic systems.

Beyond academia, I built a career in the technology sector, working in dynamic environments, managing teams, and helping build new ventures. As an entrepreneur, I have been involved in developing start-ups and initiatives that bring people together around ideas and opportunities. As a qualified advisor, I have also worked in financial services across mortgages, insurance and investment. Alongside these professional experiences, I remain deeply interested in the intellectual questions surrounding higher education and continue my work as a researcher in higher education policy, neoliberalism, the sociology of education, and the historical purposes of universities.

I was born in Lagos and now live in Auckland with my beautiful family. One of the things I value most is working with students. Over the years, I have supported and mentored many individuals as they navigate their academic and professional journeys, and I have had the privilege of serving as a referee for students pursuing further study and career opportunities. PhDtribe emerged from this experience and from a simple belief that students exploring global education pathways deserve thoughtful, independent guidance to help them make informed decisions about their futures.

PhD Admissions in New Zealand

New Zealand is one of the most attractive destinations globally for doctoral research. Universities offer internationally recognised research programmes, supportive academic communities, and strong pathways into global careers. However, gaining admission into a PhD programme requires more than strong grades. Applicants must demonstrate research capability, develop a compelling proposal, and secure alignment with potential supervisors.

Our PhD advisory support includes:

• Understanding the New Zealand doctoral system
• Identifying suitable universities and supervisors
• Structuring strong research proposals
• Preparing academic CVs and statements of purpose
• Navigating scholarship opportunities
• Understanding visa and funding considerations / post-study work opportunities

Our goal is to ensure applicants approach the process strategically, professionally, and confidently.

• Differences between global higher education systems
• Programme structures and admission expectations
• Application timelines and documentation
• Scholarship and funding opportunities
• Post-study work pathways

Our advisors offer independent insights, helping students choose programmes aligned with their academic strengths and long-term ambitions.
